07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (HS) Jack is a 2024 RHP/C out of Malvern, IA who continues to shine with his baseball abilities on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in 2.15 range with carry (81 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall, open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-74 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a great teammate and is very coachable on the field.

05/21/2023 - National Showcase - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Jack is a 2024 RHP/C prospect with a strong, athletic frame at 5'11" 175 pounds. Behind the dish, he shows off good flexibility and efficient feet. He does a great job of staying squared and presenting his hands out in front with a good target. He has good pocket awareness. His exchange is clean and he shows off a short arm action that allows him to make consistent throws to his targets. He has good feel with his angles and does a good job of keeping the ball in front. At the plate, he starts in a squared, crouched stance with a short stride to the pitcher. His head is quiet and he does a great job of tracking the baseball. He keeps his balance centered throughout his swing and works through the baseball. On the mound, he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and features a 3-pitch mix. He has good command of his FB and has some tail on his CH. He does well to gather his balance over the rubber and gets on-time separation to the plate. His arm action is clean and he gets good extension through his release point. His front side works toward his target, helping him stay squared. He has a smooth, easily repeatable delivery and exhibits good pace. Jack is definitely a prospect to keep an eye on as he enters his senior year of high school!

09/26/2021 - All-In Membership - Lansing, KS Jack is a class of 2024 catching prospect. Medium frame athletic build with plenty of time and room to add throughout. Behind the plate, he had a low sit and worked with good direction towards second base. Creates good blocking angles glove side and used his whole body on blocks. He was quick to his feet on his block and recover. Throws from an over-the-top arm slot and had an arm velocity 74mph with a pop time as low as 2.47 seconds. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance. Showed good lower half rotation while keeping his hands inside the baseball with good extension through contact. He hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 70mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we see Jack having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
