12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Jack continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper / routes angels in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/12/2019 - College PREP - San Marcos (San Diego), CA Jack is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect. In the OF, Jack is on time with his prep step, he gets into a good fielding position, and creates good angles to the ball. He's aggressive on ground balls and plays through the ball well. At the plate, Jack starts in a squared stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He creates backside drive with his lower half, and looks to hit the ball to all fields. On the bump, Jack gather over the rubber, separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He rides his backside toward the plate and extends thru his delivery. He gets late life on his fastball, flashes good depth on the curveball, and gets his changeup to fade into a right handed hitters. Jack will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
