11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Jack continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.26. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the plate. He is vocal and shows great leadership traits behind the dish. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing, flashing gap-to- gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 3 with a 3B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/14/2018 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Jack is a young, catcher with skills that are progressing. He sits in well balanced behind the dish, hands and feet play well, and he keeps the ball in front when blocking. Jack has a clean exchange, and an accurate arm to 2nd base with pop times as low as 2.39 seconds. He will need to loosen and quicken body actions, and add arm strength for catching to get better. At the plate, Jack has a square/aggressive set-up, good bat speed, and pop in his bat. He swings in rhythm and finds the barrel consistently. If Jack can work on timing, avoid lunging, and get more extension through the ball, hitting numbers will further improve.

03/25/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Madison (NYC), NJ Jack is a young catcher who will graduate in 2022. Behind the plate, Jack has active feet, soft hands, and he sits-in low. He has good flexion, blocks very well for his age, and his exchange is clean. Jack gains ground toward his target and delivers the ball with accuracy from a loose arm action. Jack can improve catching skills with work on the following.

Catching
1. Widen base
2. Long toss
3. Accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
