01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Jack continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, he displays a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.31 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to get his body down sooner. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through an open setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-68 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Jack is a talented catching prospect who has a lean, athletic build. Offensively, Jack has a tall, open stance with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with an effective load and short stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Jack has fast bat speed with a short, direct swing path producing consistently hard contact. He has an aggressive approach and can drive the ball to each gap with power. Behind the plate, Jack plays the position athletically with great flexibility. He presents a low, effective target and receives the ball well with a firm glove. Jack has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action. He moves with agile actions when needing to block the baseball. Overall, Jack is an athletic catching prospect who can make an impact at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
