07/03/2019 - Under Armour Firecracker Classic 18U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Jack continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line zip (84 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 4 for 12 with a 2B and 3B. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 75-79 mph with cutting action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a lone toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard with high energy.

02/17/2019 - College PREP - Highland Park (DFW), TX Jack is a solid, athletic 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with excellent power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a solid feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Raw throwing velocity plays at 84mph. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 80-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Jack has an upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
