02/16/2020 - College PREP - Sioux Falls, SD Jack showed nice improvements on the mound, increased arm strength to 73 MPH, and exit velocity to 76 MPH during his workout. On the mound, Jack has a good set-up, solid balance over the rubber, and he separates his hands on time. He has a controlled landing, solid off-speed, and he competes in the zone. More finish and front arm extension, along with continuing to add arm strength will help mound effectiveness improve. At SS, Jack makes plays through a presentable glove and active feet. He picks out the good hops, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a consistent arm across the diamond. Added aggressiveness and range can help improve defense. Offensively, Jack has a tall stance, he loads well, and he hits line drives. He rotates his lower body well and hits the ball the other way. Work on timing and shortening his swing path will help hitting continue to improve.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Jack is a young two-way player at SS/RHP. At SS Jack shows smooth footwork getting to the ball and fielding the ball square with 2-hands. His exchanges are clean making accurate throws around the diamond with carry. Improving footwork will improve Jacks game. At the plate, Jack sets up square with loose hands. His load is small with a controlled stride, getting his foot down on time. He fires his lower half through getting the barrel on plane showing good hip/hand separation. He shows a good line drive approach with some pull side pop. On the mound Jack showed a FB/CH mix. His setup is sure with simple movements as he gathers getting separated on time. His arm action is clean and keeps his stride in line with the plate rotating through finish. Getting on a mobility program along with long toss will improve Jacks game. Jack showed he is able to make adjustments well and will continue to improve.

02/23/2019 - College Recruiting Day - Sioux Falls, SD Jack is a scrappy SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the field, Jack shows active footwork and flashes good range to his glove side. He fields with a firm glove and makes a clean exchange, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Jack improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a square stride. He shows a smooth rhythm and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to all fields. Jack can improve as a hitter by working a load into his swing. On the mound, Jack gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and finishes square to the plate. Jack shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 58-61mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 61-65mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Extending through his release can help Jack improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Jack has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
