12/01/2019 - College PREP - Lynwood (Chicago), IL Jack is a thin OF who will graduate in 2021. Defensively, Jack has active feet, good pre-pitch actions, and he fields aggressively. He centers the ball well on his body, makes plays consistently, and has a loose/accurate arm to his cut off man. Fielding in better rhythm and continuing to add arm strength will help defensive skills improve. At the plate, Jack has a crouched stance, good balance, and he stays inside the baseball. He has a direct swing path, makes consistent contact, and he uses his lower body. Hitting can get better with work on stride/load, timing, and barrel accuracy.

08/12/2018 - College PREP - Elgin (Chicago), IL Jack is a projectable OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Jack centers the ball in the middle of his body and fields the ball out in front. He makes a clean exchange to throw and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Jack can improve defensively by quickening his release to throw. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He tracks the ball well and works to barrel up the ball and drive up the middle. Jack can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Jack works with a clean arm action and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph. Breaking ball sits from 60-62mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 59-61mph. Jack can improve as a pitcher by gathering to a balance point over the rubber. Overall, Jack is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
