12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Skinner continues to show steady play in his baseball abilities, showing as a catcher at the event Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.03. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as tools that will play at the next level as he continues to develop and get more reps. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a tough kid, very coachable, and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/24/2014 - College PREP - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Jack is a R/L catcher who is an athlete behind the dish. Defensively he sits in well and maintains good flexion. He tracks the ball into his mitt and sticks it. He quick exchange gets the ball down to 2B in as low as 2.08. With the bat, he stands in well with good balance and a solid base. He shows a closed setup with good rhythm. He takes an aggressive hack and squares the ball up. He hustles out of the box and puts pressure on the defense with his speed (6.91 60 yard dash). Only a 2016 grad - Jack is a few adjustments away from unlocking his potential.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
