Exclusive College Recruiting Program Jack is a physical catching prospect out of the state of Alabama who presents the ability to impact a baseball game on both sides of the game. As a catcher he features the ability to both receive from a traditional 2-knee up stance with mobility in his hips to present and hold a good target, as well he is adept at working out of a 1-knee up stance where he sits low and presents a good target. His glove is above average as a receiver with a combination of soft hands and feel for the ball, but also he physical strength and strong wrists allow him to handle velocity and pitches outside his shoulders or below his knee to bring them back within the zone to present at strikes fluidly and without effort. He is low 2.0 pop time with the ability to go sub 2.0 on occasion, but will consistently throw in the low 2.0 range in game with accuracy. Offensively, Jack stands out as a middle of the order potential hitter who has a swing with bat speed and strength in which he utilizes his powerful lower half efficiently and holds the ground well to generate power to the big part of the field and pull side. His bat stays in the zone well with a path geared for loft to get the ball in the air, but does not have a large amount of swing and miss. There is the ability to hit both for average and for power at the next level.

02/21/2021 - All-In Membership - Pensacola, FL Jack continues to show improvements on the diamond and is a prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. At 3B, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and present well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.22 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Time will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Offensively, hitting / power potential has improved a squared setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage (83 mph exit velocity) with gap to gap pop.

12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Jack continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
