10/14/2020 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic
Jack is a coachable RHP/C prospect who showcased his skills during the Arizona Fall Classic. On the mound, Jack gathers over the rubber and works with a clean arm, keeping his pitches around the zone. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph. Breaking ball sits from 58-59mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 57-58mph with cutting action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Extending through his release more can help Jack improve his pitch command and velocity. Behind the plate, Jack tracks the ball into his glove and works to block dirt balls. Jack can improve his overall catching skills by sitting in a more athletic stance. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a soft stride. He is smooth to load and remains controlled throughout his swing, producing solid line drives. Driving his lower half more can help Jack generate more pop off the barrel. With four more years to develop, Jack has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Jack continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 73-75 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with sharp break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

Jack continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he shows a squared setup with a clean mitt but needs to present an earlier target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times have improved as he threw his time to date at 2.38 with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. Slider is slightly hard and resembles curveball. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

Jack continues to work hard and progress on the diamond. On the mound, this righty throws a FB & CB from an over-the-top arm slot. He works tall, has smooth separation and fires from a quick arm action. He attacks the zone and challenges hitters to swing the bat. FB tops out at 74 mph as he works it in and out. Breaking ball has 12/6 shape with some depth. Behind the plate, he sits in well and presents a low target. He has athletic / quick twitch actions and works laterally around pitches in the dirt. Pop times remain in the 2.3's coming from a quick/clean transfer. As a hitter, this righty displays an athletic setup with smooth rhythm to load. He steps into the box looking to swing the bat. Quick hands whip the barrel with + speed as he connects and drives the ball with pop from gap-to-gap. Wilson is a talented 2024 grad who has upside.

Jack continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.44 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball showed a range of 66-72 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player, coachable, and plays the game hard.

Jack is a RHP/C prospect who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, Jack gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Jack shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 58-59mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 65-66mph as he throws with natural arm speed. In the field, Jack shows efficient footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and makes consistently on-line throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, driving the ball to his pull side. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.
