07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Jackie is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect that was very coachable and made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. At 1B, Jackie is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and fields the ball in front of his body. He communicates well on pop ups, has proper footwork on relays, and works well off the ball. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Jackie starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He has a solid 2 strike approach and barrels the ball consistently. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and create backside rotation. On the bump, Jackie gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his delivery. He has good direction and works north to south. He sits 69-71 with his fastball but needs to be more consistent down in the zone. He throws a 10-4 breaking ball but occasionally cuts himself off. Keeping a strong front side will allow him to be more consistent down in the zone. Jackie is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience. We hope to see his progress in the future.
