Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

10/06/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Spokane, WA Jackson increased arm velocity to 68 MPH and exit velocity to 71 MPH during his last workout with The Factory. At 1B, Jackson has good pre-pitch actions, solid bag awareness, and he flashes a nice backhand. He keeps the ball in front of his body, and throws with a quick release and accuracy to his target. On the mound, Jackson keeps his eyes on target, he separates his hands on time, and has good glove side lead. He gets good pivot off his back foot and competes in the zone. Offensively, Jackson has a tall stance, he makes consistent contact, and he works the ball the other way. He flashes some bat speed and can spray to all fields.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Jackson is a young, strongly-built two-way prospect who is always looking to get better and is a good teammate. He shows power potential in his big frame with some aggressive cuts and the strength to drive the ball. At the dish, he displays good knowledge of the strike zone and knows where he wants the ball to do damage. He gets on time with his front foot and launches through the zone on a flat path to make contact to all fields. At first, he works with efficient feet to move around the bag to field and receive throws. He flashes smooth hands to pick the ball and has a strong arm to make accurate throws. On the mound, this big right hander works in line to the plate with a balanced delivery from an over the top arm slot. He shows some deception in his arm action and features a fastball that he works to both sides of the plate. Letting loose and showing more intent will unlock more velocity moving forward. Jackson is an intriguing prospect we want to keep following as he develops.

10/01/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Spokane, WA Jackson is a 1B/RHP who will graduate in 2024. Defensively at 1B, he hustles hard laterally and tries to work into a square fielding position on GB's. He makes the backhand plays and tries to play through the ball towards his target. On the mound, this RHP delivers a (FB, CB) from a hi 3/4 arm slot. He separates on time and tries to stay directional towards home plate. With the bat, Jackson shows a quiet setup. He swings on a direct path through the zone and drives pitches with pop to his pull side. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Stay low
3. Develop soft hands
Pitching
1. Strong frontside
2. Lower 1/2 drive off rubber
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Improve bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
