10/06/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Trenton, NJ Jackson is a LHP/1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Jackson works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 66-69mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits from 73-74mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Jackson improve as a pitcher. In the field, Jackson shows proper footwork and moves well to his glove side. He makes the routine plays and keeps his throws consistent to his target. Jackson can improve defensively by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives the ball to the opposite field. Driving his lower half more can help Jackson improve as a hitter. Overall, Jackson is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/16/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Dallas, TX Jackson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Breaking ball sits from 64-66 mph with 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, power potential is now solid through an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball and has pop in his swing with ball jumping off the bat when centered with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he shows smooth / clean actions and good pre pitch movements. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness and presents hands more out front.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jackson is a well-built, projectable LHP/1B prospect. On the mound, Jackson has a feel for pitching and portrays a confident attitude. He works from the stretch and throws from a 3/4 arm slot. Jackson has a late separation and short arm action. He has a controlled landing and is open to home plate. Jackson finishes with an upright chest towards the 3B side. His fastball has good run movement and his curveball is developing. As a left-handed hitter, Jackson has a crouched, open setup with a centered balance. He has a simple load with high hands and a soft, controlled stride. Jackson has good coordination and engages his core as he rotates. He has an up and down swing path and can benefit from consistency. Jackson is a contact type hitter who has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the field, Jackson shows a stiff ready position and is flat footed. He fields the ball with deep hands. Jackson stops and starts with his release. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and is developing arm strength. Overall, Jackson has a versatile skill set and potential to get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
