Official Scouting Report

04/22/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Louisville, KY Jackson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.22. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his loose, quick arm action to work well to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball showed range of 74-77 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. In the MIF, he shows smooth clean actions. He displays proper footwork in creating proper angles in attacking and playing through balls with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground.

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Jackson is a coachable 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown. In the field, Jackson shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He attacks the ball and uses his hands well throughout the fielding process. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum on his throws which allows them to remain accurate and carry through his target. Jackson can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through the zone with his lower half. He tracks the ball well and produces fast bat speed which leads to solid line drives. Jackson can improve as a hitter by taking a more direct swing route to the ball. On the mound, Jackson has a deceptive delivery with quick, loose arm action. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 67mph with good sinking action. Breaking ball sits at 58mph with late 11-5 break. Slider tops out at 57mph with 11-5 break. Jackson can improve as a pitcher by finishing square to the plate. With four more years to develop, Jackson has the time and potential to further progress his game.

04/09/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Louisville, KY Jackson is a 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2021. Defensively at 2B, he takes active routes as he fields gb's in a low/athletic position. He turns quick DP's and makes strong throws across the infield. On the mound, this RHP keeps his eyes on target and delivers with a loose arm. He pounds the zone with strikes as he finishes strong towards home plate. With the stick, Jackson is a great contact hitter. He explodes his lower 1/2 as he stays balanced throughout contact on each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Develop soft hands
3. Quicker exchange to throw
Pitching
1. More lower 1/2 drive off rubber
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Controlled landing
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Develop rhythm
3. Improve bat speed/hands

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
