Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

08/17/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Columbus, OH Jackson continues to show well on the diamond. On the mound, this RHP pounds the zone with strikes with all 3-pitches. He maintains fluid tempo and repeats well. FB sits in the mid to upper 70's. CB has 10/4 shape with tight spin as he commands it well. Changeup compliments FB and is deceptive to hitters with sinking action that will get GB outs. At 3B, he quickly works around the GB and into a square fielding position. Hands are presented out front as he funnels smoothly to a clean transfer. At the plate, this righty shows a square stance with rhythm to load. He takes an aggressive hack on a short/direct path, squares the ball up and hits hard line-drives. This 2023 2-way prospect has skills with upside as he enters his sophomore year.

07/13/2020 - All-In Membership - Avon (Cleveland), OH Jackson is a projectable RHP who continues to progress on the diamond. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot and clean/smooth arm action. He works to a controlled balance point, keeps his eyes on the target and has smooth separation. He gets good glove-side lead and repeats his delivery well. He commands his FB well and can hit his spots - 74-77 mph. Curveball has 10/4 shape while changeup has slight tailing action. As a hitter, Larson shows a square setup with smooth rhythm to load. Swing is short/direct to and through the zone as he connects and has some pop to his pull-side. This 2023 grad has upside and should find success as he approaches his sophomore year.

09/16/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Jackson worked out on the mound and in the OF during his last workout with The Factory. On the hill, Jackson has a clean arm circle, he stands over the rubber well balanced, and he keeps his eyes on target. Jackson separates on time, has a proper length stride toward home, and finishes in a complete position. In the OF, Jackson fields with some rhythm, presents his glove, and throws with consistency and direction to his target. At the plate, Jackson has a closed stance, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He tracks the ball, hits from a solid base, and he makes square/level contact.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Jackson showed nice improvements on the mound during his time in Pirate City. He increased radar velocity to 68 MPH and showed a clean arm circle and a balanced delivery. Jackson separates on time, gets good extension on his pitches, and tries to work on a downhill plane. He has a controlled landing and finishes in a complete position. In the OF, Jackson has firm hands, he makes plays on balls hit his way, and he throws with carry to his target from a quick arm action. Offensively, Jackson has a square setup, he puts the bat on the ball, and hits with some strength to the pull side. Jackson is a team player, hard work, and is very coachable. We look forward to seeing what the future holds.

07/10/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Avon (Cleveland), OH Jackson is an OF/RHP who will graduate in 2023. Defensively in the OF, he takes a prep step with clean footwork. He takes solid angles as he tracks down fly balls and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the hill, this righty keeps his eyes locked in and shows smooth movements. He separates on time, delivers with clean arm action and works in line towards home plate. With the bat, Jackson displays an athletic setup and gets back into a load. He rips his lower 1/2, swings on a short path through the zone and drives pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Jackson can improve as a hitter by developing more strength and athleticism to improve his bat speed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
