01/28/2024 - National Showcase - San Antonio, TX Melanson is a 2025 graduate out of Boerne Champion High School in Boerne, Texas. He is an extremely athletic pitcher with a dynamic/above-average 4 pitch-mix. His fastball sat 83-85mph with sink and pinpoint control while his curveball sat 73-74mph and showed to be a swing-and-miss pitch. His slider ranged 76-79mph with tight spin and his change-up was 79-81mph with frequent command. Arm strength on flat-ground pull down topped at 94mph. Melanson throws with intent with arm whip and engages his lower-half consistently. At the plate, Melanson hit a ball as hard as 89mph finding the barrel of the bat on almost every pitch. This 2025 grad is one to watch!

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
