Official Scouting Report

  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

07/28/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Jackson is a coachable LHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. On the mound, Jackson works with a clean arm and keeps his shoulders inline to the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with good lateral movement. Breaking ball sits from 60-62mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits at 64mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Jackson makes the routine plays and works to stay directional toward his target. Transfer is clean with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance with comfortable/relaxed hands. He works to barrel up the baseball and sprays the ball to all fields. Getting into his load sooner can help Jackson to get more into his swing resulting in increased power. Overall, Jackson is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

03/01/2020 - College PREP - Santa Rosa, CA Jackson is LHP with a strong lower half that shows the ability to throw all three of his pitches for strikes. He shows some arm side run on his FB and works on-time with his delivery. He has a clean arm action and stays in line towards his target. He can improve on the mound by slowing his tempo down and finishing his pitches a little better with extension. At the plate, he has a short, quick stroke with good lower half and is a good "spray" hitter. He has a centered approach with while hitting against his front side at contact.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
