05/26/2019 - College PREP - Keizer (Salem), OR Jackson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball jumping off the bat when centered.

12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Jackson is a coachable OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Under Armour Recruiting Classic. In the field, Jackson takes a good first step and displays active footwork. He fields in an athletic position and makes a clean exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to his target. Jackson can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits from a strong front side. He flashes plus barrel control and gets good extension through the ball, leading to solid contact. Taking a square stride towards the pitcher can help Jackson improve as a hitter. Overall, Jackson is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/08/2018 - College PREP - Portland, OR Jackson is a scrappy OF graduating in 2020. In the field, Jackson shows efficient feet that allow him to gain ground and get good reads on ground balls in the gaps. He shows a square fielding position and throws from a low 3/4 arm slot. Jackson can improve in the field by presenting his hands out front of his body and implementing a throwing progression to improve arm strength and accuracy. At the plate, Jackson shows a line drive, spray type approach. He has a square set up with a short stride and a good back-side hand load. He leads with his lower half, utilizes his hips well, and displays a direct swing path, making consistent contact with the ball. Jackson can improve at the plate by starting his swing earlier and finishing his swings in a balanced position. Jackson shows a lot of potential, and with more development, he could play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
