Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

05/02/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Reno, NV Jackson is a class of 2023 SS/RHP prospect. In the field, he shows good pre pitch actions. Does a good job exchanging the baseball both cleanly and quickly. Fields through the baseball and plays down to up. Creates momentum to throw and throws are online across the diamond. At the plate, he starts in a square stance. Does a good job getting extension through the baseball. Hits into a firm front side. Uses his lower ½ throughout his swing. On the mound, he does a good job staying within his mechanics. Shows signs of command with all 3 of his pitches. Delivers pitches from a High ¾ arm slot. Jackson is a well-rounded prospect that we hope to see again in the future.

12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Jackson is a solid MIF in the 2023 class. He sets up in an athletic/ready position using quick/active footwork to cover ground laterally. He has great agility with a + 1st step presenting his glove out front and fielding the ball in an athletic position. He uses a quick/clean exchange getting the ball in and out of his glove efficiently. DP feeds were accurate and his throws were strong with carry and life (79 mph). Offensively, he starts in a square stance/crouched setup with patience and a great eye for the zone. He engages his lower half, keeping his weight centered with a compact swing. He barrels the ball up and looks to drive the middle of the field. Jackson is a hard working, coachable player who has a ton of upside.

10/17/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS) Jackson is a coachable SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Fall Pro Training Experience. In the field, Jackson fields with a firm glove and works to make accurate throws to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Jackson make more plays. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance with comfortable hands. He is smooth to load and remains centered in his lower half, producing solid contact. Jackson can barrel up more baseballs by taking a more level swing path. Overall, Jackson is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

06/03/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Las Vegas, NV Jackson is a SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Jackson shows active footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He throws from a low 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Jackson can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and stays compact to the ball, spraying to all fields. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Jackson improve as a pitcher. On the mound, Jackson shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 64mph. Breaking ball sits from 50-51mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 55-56mph with sinking action. Jackson can improve as a pitcher by gathering to a balance point over the rubber. With four more years to develop, Jackson has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Santa Rosa, CA Jackson is a lean, 2-way player who plays SS and OF. In the INF, Jackson has quick feet, agile movements, and he fields in an athletic position. He has good pre-pitch actions, a quick exchange, and an accurate arm across the diamond. In the OF, Jackson has soft hands, quick feet to the ball, and he works behind the ball well. He gains ground and throws with momentum to his target. Offensively, Jackson has a tall set-up, he swings in good rhythm, and flashes good bat speed. He works the ball well to the opposite field and hits with strength to the pull side. Jackson can further improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
