03/14/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Nashville, TN Jackson is a 1B/LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 1B, Jackson shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate/on-line throws through his target. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and line drives to all fields. On the mound, Jackson gathers over the rubber and works with a clean arm. He stays inline toward the plate and finishes square to his target. Jackson shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 60-62mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits from 62-64mph. Overall, Jackson is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

10/24/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - So Cal (HS) Jackson is a coachable 1B/LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Fall Pro Training Experience. In the field, Jackson shows efficient footwork with a quick first step. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he creates good carry on his throws. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a level swing path with fast bat speed and plus barrel control, producing strong gap to gap pop. On the mound, Jackson gathers over the rubber and is fluid separating his hands. He works with a clean arm and finishes with a controlled landing. Jackson shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits at 63mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits at 66mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Jackson is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/14/2020 - All-In Membership - Lake Elsinore (Los Angeles), CA Jackson is an athletic switch hitting 2-way player as a 1B/LHP. At the plate, this switch hitter shows similarly from both sides. He has a tall/open setup with rhythm to load. Hands are quick as he whips the barrel through a level path and engages his lower 1/2. He hits the ball where it's pitched with the ability to spray line-drives. At 1B, Jackson has active footwork and moves well into a square/athletic fielding position. He tracks GB's into a soft mitt and gathers well. On the mound, this lefty has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot and clean/free arm action. He gets balanced, has smooth separation and stays directional toward the dish. FB tops out at 72 mph with some tailing action. Changeup has some movement as he throws it with FB arm speed, helping to create deception. Slider shows 1/7 shape with early break. He fills up the zone and throws strikes with all 3 pitches. Utilizing his lower 1/2 more to drive downhill will help to get more into his FB. This 2022 grad has tools with still time to progress as he approaches his junior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
