Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • CPosition Projection

11/15/2015 - College PREP - Marlborough (Boston), MA Jackson continues to show well on the diamond (this time as a catcher only). He sits in with flexion and tracks pitches into his mitt - sticking the ball and framing well. He moves well laterally and works hard to keep the ball in front. Exchange is clean as he stays low to throw working in-line toward 2B - pop times now at 2.26. Widening his base will allow for improve angles to block. As a hitter - Stanton steps into the box looking to swing it. He takes an aggressive hack through a level path and engages his lower 1/2 generating some pop off of his barrel. Jackson is a hard worker who (2019 grad) has tools with a ton of upside.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Jackson is a young, lean C/RHP that will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show in the range of 2.96. Times will continue to drop as he works to get rid of the baseball quicker, builds more arm strength and increases foot quickness. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. At the plate, he shows an open stance with balance. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path, creating a line drive approach. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 59-63 mph as he hides the ball well. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. Control is solid as he works to throw strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and develops another off speed pitch. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 6 years to further develop, Jackson has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
