12/07/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Jacob is a young, 2-way player as a RHP/SS. On the bump, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He shows good overall mechanics and works through smooth tempo. FB tops out at 61 mph while showing sink. He fills up the zone and throws it for strikes consistently. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with gradual break. He gets good glove tuck and works in-line toward the plate. At SS, Acree works hard and takes good angles to get around the ground ball. He plays the backhand smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with good balance. 01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Jacob continues to show solid fundamentals. On the mound, his mechanics are sound with a fluid arm action and control of three pitches. He can focus on having more of an explosive backside. Defensively, Jacob has a good pre-pitch, good body control, and the ability to make plays. He will need to work on staying lower in his fielding position as well as improve foot speed. Offensively, his balance is solid with good use of his lower half. Nathan can improve on letting the ball travel which will allow him to use the entire field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
