07/15/2018 - Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Jacob is an athletic and talented 2019 middle INF prospect that made several adjustments during the weekend. In the INF, Jacob has an active prep step, presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He funnels the ball into his body and has a clean exchnage. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Jacob starts in an open stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He hits off a firm front side, has fluid rythm in his hands, and stays balanced through contact. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and seeing the ball deep into the contact zone will allow him to drive the ball gap to gap. Jacob will continue to improve with expereince and we hope to see his progress in the future.

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jacob continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to squares balls up. Hands / feet work well together as he presents glove well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a solid feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/25/2018 - College PREP - West, TX Jacob is a strong, athletic SS prospect who has a smooth swing to go along with natural actions in the field. He shows a consistent, efficient path at the dish to make square contact on a regular basis. He has good hand eye coordination and deliver the barrel to the ball and hit it hard. His bat is fast through the zone on a direct path to the ball and he shows gap to gap ability with blossoming power. At short, he gets ready pre pitch with quick feet and is smooth working to the ball. He plays through with momentum to his target and makes quick and accurate feeds and throws. A long toss program will improve arm strength and allow him to stay on the left side of the infield. Jacob is an intriguing prospect we look forward to following further.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jacob continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Hitting abilities will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / sure but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Jacob is a coachable player who made adjustments and wants to get better. He is a hard worker who brings it day in and day out. Defensively at SS, he has active footwork and works around the GB into a square fielding position. He gathers well and has the ability to make accurate throws from multiple arm angles. Working to present his glove earlier out in front out his body will help to improve defensive skills. As a hitter, this lefty remains patient and tracks pitches out of the pitcher's hand and into the zone. He swings on a level path, squares the ball up and hits line drives. Even more power potential is there with more extension through his finish while engaging/driving his lower 1/2. Jacob is a solid athlete who should find success in this his junior year.

07/18/2017 - College PREP - Highland Park (DFW), TX Jacob is a hardworking shortstop prospect who has an athletic build and graduates in 2019. As a left-handed hitter, Jacob has an open stance with a centered balance. He takes a good load with a closed stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Jacob tracks the baseball well and shows an on-plane swing path consistently landing the barrel to the ball. He has a middle of the field approach and the ability to drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Jacob presents his glove and moves well in each direction laterally. He has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Jacob has good strength with online throws across the diamond. Overall, Jacob has a good approach on both sides of the ball and good potential to get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
