01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Jacob continues to show improvements on the diamond. At 1B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. He is a quality receiver at the bag, displaying proper footwork. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Jacob continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting abilities with excellent power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. At 1B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. He is a quality receiver at the bag, displaying proper footwork. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with sweeping action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch with sink and good deception. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/20/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Jacob is a solid, strong 1B/LHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and utilizes his lower half well with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. He will benefit by presenting hands more out front. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 72-74 mph with sinking action. Braking ball displays 12/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Jacob has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
