01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Jacob is a strong and athletic 2020 2-way prospect that worked hard all weekend. At 1B, Jacob is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works behind the ball. He works off the bag well and makes accurate throws on double plays. Improving his first step and anticipating the ball off the bat will increate his range. At the plate, Jacob starts in a tall and open stance. He barrels the ball consistently, he has a middle approach, and hunts the fastball. He needs to continue to create backside drive with his lower half, attack the inside part of the ball, and get extension through contact. On the bump, Jacob has confidence in his pitches and attacks the strike zone. He separates on time, has a clean arm stroke, and stays directional toward the plate. Continuing to find a balance point over the backside and working north to south in his delivery will allow him to work over the front side more consistently. Jacob is a team player and we hope to see his progress in the future.
