Official Scouting Report

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Boyd continues to show well on the diamond. In the OF, he has active prep and works lightly on the balls of his feet. He covers ground with speed (6.93) and works through the ball well. With the bat, this leadoff type stands in with an athletic setup and solid base. He maintains quiet/simple actions with patience. Hands are quick as he fires the barrel through a level path and drives the ball to the gaps. He is quick out of the box and gets down the 1B line. This 2019 OF prospect has a very bright future ahead of him in the game.

10/23/2016 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Jacob is a talented 2B/OF prospect who can play the game and has a bright future. In the infield, Jacob plays with active footwork and a solid, patient approach. He moves well each direction laterally as he fields the ball squarely and athletically. Jacob presents his glove and has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action from a 3/4 slot. He has a quick release and his throws are consistently online. In the outfield, Jacob has an effective pre-pitch and moves with agile actions. He effectively gets behind the behind the baseball with great footwork and receives with clean glove work. Jacob throws the baseball over the top with carry online towards his target. Offensively, Jacob has a square athletic stance with a good load and short stride. He uses his lower half with fluid rhythm and centered balance. Jacob's swing path is direct and on-plane producing square contact. He stays up the middle with the ability to drive the ball to each gap. Overall, Jacob has upside in multiple defensive positions and can be an effective offensive player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
