12/27/2012 - Under Armour Recruiting Classic
Jacob worked out at SS during the UA Recruiting Classic and also pitched some. Defensively, Jacob showed sure hands, fluid footwork, and he fields in a square position. He fields in rhythm, makes plays, and he throws with life and accuracy to his target. On the mound, Jacob is aggressive in the zone, he shows a strong arm, and he repeats his delivery well. At the plate, Jacob has a square set-up, a short stride, and decent bat speed. He swings in good rhythm, keeps a level swing, and he gets his lower 1/2 through.
10/28/2012 - College PREP - Corpus Christi, TX
In Jacob's first Factory outing he showed well both defensively at shortstop and offensively. At the dish, he has a square/tall setup, fluid rhythm, generates fast bat speed and makes consistent/square contact. He is a line-drive/gap-to-gap style hitter with a nice load, short stride, and through lower-half. Jacob displayed pop to the oppo gap, while staying inside the ball. He has a high leg kick that is late at times which causes him to dive in towards pitches. Defensively at shortstop, he has long/loose arm action and throws from the high 3/4 arm slot. He has soft/sure hands, clean/quick exchange, playable footwork, and is athletic/low in his fielding position. He is aggressive in his first step on ground balls, showed good backhand range, and was consistent with his double-play feeds. Jacob needs to promote hands out in front and needs to work on his footwork/agility. Overall, the middle-infielder that will graduate in 2014 has a couple of years to grow into his body, and improve his game. Depending on his physical development, Jacob could become a third basemen/corner infielder at the next level.
