10/27/2013 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA
Clay showed on the mound plus at SS for the first time at the event. Currently, he projects best at SS for the next level. At the plate is where Jacob shows best. He is a switch hitter that is better from the left side. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through ha level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. From the right side, he makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. At SS, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to attack balls, play through and present hands more out front. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph. Changeup is his best off speed pitch showing well above average as he maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with loose spin and gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.
