09/20/2020 - All-In Membership - Boise, ID Jacob has really improved his baseball abilities since the last time we saw him. He did show at SS for the first time at the event. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.14 with accuracy / carry (83 mph velocity) on his throws. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential are now well above average through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. With 3 years to further develop, Jacob has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Jacob is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect that worked hard all week. Behind the dish, Jacob starts in an athletic primary stance, works behind the ball, and tracks the ball to the mitt. He starts in an athletic secondary stance but needs to continue to have a clean exchange, and create momentum with his lower half when throwing to the bases. When blocking he creates good angles but needs to increase hip mobility in order to block laterally more efficiently. At the plate, Jacob starts in a squared stance and wide stance. He's explosive with his backside, has a level swing, and makes consistent contact. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position and get his front foot down on time. On the bump, Jacob separates on time, has a loose arm action, and attacks the strike zone with all three pitches. Jacob is eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Jacob is a compact 2023 C/2B prospect who is a leader on the field and loves to compete. He shows advanced bat to ball skills with a short bat path and hand eye coordination to deliver the barrel consistently. He takes big hacks at the dish, using his quick hands to get through the zone and impact the ball with authority. He is on time with his front foot to launch and his lower half generates good bat speed. Behind the plate, he has quick, efficient feet to slide from his secondary stance and block pitches in the dirt to center. His hands are soft to receive and block and he shows a quick exchange and release to make accurate throws to second. A long toss program will improve arm strength and reduce pop times. Jacob is a talented ballplayer we are excited to keep watching.

10/01/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Spokane, WA Jacob is a C/2B who will can swing the bat. Offensively, Jacob sets up square with fluid rhythm as he gets good hand separation on his load. He whips his barrel on a direct path fast through the zone and drives pitches on a line with hard contact. Behind the plate, he displays a low/athletic setup with quick footwork. He sticks pitches with a soft mitt and has a clean exchange to throw. At 2B, he takes quick routes/angles as he attacks the GB. He has a quick/clean exchange and makes accurate throws to his target. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Prep step
2. Stay low
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Catching
1. Present low target
2. Quick to block
3. More accurate throws
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Stay balanced
3. More lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
