12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Jacob is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect that worked hard all week. Behind the dish, Jacob starts in an athletic primary stance, works behind the ball, and tracks the ball to the mitt. He starts in an athletic secondary stance but needs to continue to have a clean exchange, and create momentum with his lower half when throwing to the bases. When blocking he creates good angles but needs to increase hip mobility in order to block laterally more efficiently. At the plate, Jacob starts in a squared stance and wide stance. He's explosive with his backside, has a level swing, and makes consistent contact. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position and get his front foot down on time. On the bump, Jacob separates on time, has a loose arm action, and attacks the strike zone with all three pitches. Jacob is eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Jacob is a compact 2023 C/2B prospect who is a leader on the field and loves to compete. He shows advanced bat to ball skills with a short bat path and hand eye coordination to deliver the barrel consistently. He takes big hacks at the dish, using his quick hands to get through the zone and impact the ball with authority. He is on time with his front foot to launch and his lower half generates good bat speed. Behind the plate, he has quick, efficient feet to slide from his secondary stance and block pitches in the dirt to center. His hands are soft to receive and block and he shows a quick exchange and release to make accurate throws to second. A long toss program will improve arm strength and reduce pop times. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
