12/20/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at JRTC - Session 1 Jacob is a 2023 3B/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF Christmas Camp and Tournament. At 3B, he showed good range and athletic actions. He worked to center the baseball and fields from an athletic/low fielding position with a low funnel. He made accurate throws from a 3/4 arm slot to first base with an arm velocity up to 87mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance with comfortable hands. He hits into a firm frontside, with good hand separation, and is centered at contact. He showed good barrel control as he hit balls to all fields with a with a bat exit velocity up to 91mph during BP. During the games, he reached base 5 times with 3 singles, and 2 base on balls. A right-handed pitcher, he works exclusively from the stretch. He has a confident mound presence and a good feel for pitching. He takes the proper stride length and gets his chest over his front knee. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 77mph with plus command, and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball. Jacob is a solid 2-way player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Salem (Roanoke), VA Jacob is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Jacob shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He fields in an athletic position and has a clean exchange, making accurate/on-line throws across the diamond. Presenting his glove out in front of his body can help Jacob field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He generates fast bat speed through the zone and drives the ball to his pull side. Jacob can barrel up more baseballs by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Jacob gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline toward the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. Jacob operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph. Breaking ball sits from 62-63mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 60-62mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Jacob improve his pitch command and velocity. Overall, Jacob is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
