08/23/2021 - All-In Membership - Portland, OR Jacob continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond with his baseball abilities. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. At 1B, defensive abilities are at a pro level as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and presents well out front. He consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips (84 mph velocity) throws on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic, open setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity with wood) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half is explosive through the swing as he maintains balance.

06/14/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Portland, OR Jacob continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate, this LHH shows an advanced approach through a square setup. He stays direct through the ball with explosive bat speed, driving the ball with authority. In the field, Jacob moves light on his feet and fields in an athletic position. His exchange is quick and he makes accurate throws with carry through his target. Overall, Jacob is a talented prospect who has the skill set to be an offensive force at the next level.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) This projectable/strong 2-way prospect just continues to impress in all facets of his game. At the plate is where he puts on a show. When this strong (6'5"/220) LHH steps into the box you want to watch. Swing is quick with authority as he connects with power sending the ball screaming to the deep parts of the park (exit velocity still at a very impressive 102 mph). At 1B, he shows his athleticism with quick/active footwork and good lateral range. He is sure handed and can go get throws up and down the line, with the ability to pick it. On the mound, Jacob works tall utilizing his frame and drives downhill off of the rubber. He commands his FB well working it in and out. Curveball has 1/7 shape as he has the ability to throw it for strikes in any count. Changeup is a solid 'K' pitch with good sinking action as it compliments his FB well. He varies his looks and timing to the plate, mixing his pitches and keeping hitters guessing. Only a 2022 grad - Jacob is fun to watch and we're excited to see what the next year has in store for him.

08/25/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Keizer (Salem), OR Jacob is a strong 1B/LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 1B, Jacob shows fluid footwork and moves well to his glove side. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH shows an advanced approach through and athletic setup. He is fluid getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a short swing with explosive bat speed, leading to loud contact and tremendous power. On the mound, Jacob shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82mph. Breaking ball sits at 72mph with 12-6 break. Changeup sits at 74mph with sinking action. Overall, Jacob is a talented prospect who will be among the top in his class.

05/24/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Keizer (Salem), OR Jacob is a tall 1B/LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 1B, Jacob shows active footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains ground well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and great pull side power. On the mound, Jacob gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and controls his pitches well. Jacob shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 83mph with good movement. Breaking ball sits from 68-73mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 73-74mph with good cutting action. Overall, Jacob is a talented prospect who will be one to follow as he continues to progress.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jacob continues to show as a top prospect at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, power potential is tremendous through a tall setup. Hands are quick (101 mph exit velocity), generating bat speed through an aggressive swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, this righty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Fastball showed a range of 74-78 mph with sinking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Cutter is harder with sink. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches.

11/03/2019 - College PREP - Wilsonville (Portland), OR Jacob is an athletic 1B/LHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Jacob shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a quick exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with explosive bat speed, leading to loud contact and pop to his pull side. On the mound, Jacob gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Jacob shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75-79mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 60-67mph with late 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 66-67mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Jacob is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
