04/25/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Binghamton, NY Jacob is a tall C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. Behind the dish, Jacob shows efficient footwork and covers up well when blocking. He presents a good target to the pitcher and receives with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he works to make accurate throws to the 2B bag. Sitting in a square stance can help Jacob improve his overall catching ability. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets back into his load and works through a direct swing, producing solid contact. Jacob can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. Overall, Jacob is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Jacob is a 2024 C/RHP. Pop times time showed in the 3.05 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft/sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event he was 3 for 7. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 65 mph. Fastball showed a range of 56-65 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player, coachable, and plays the game hard.

11/03/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching Weekend (Ages 12-14) Jacob is a C/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Pitching and Catching Weekend. Behind the plate, Jacob sets up with a good frame and tracks the ball well. He gets rid of the ball quickly on his throws and keeps them on the 1B side of the 2B bag. Jacob can improve as a catcher by sitting in a more athletic stance. On the mound, Jacob keeps his eyes on target and keeps his pitches around the zone. His fastball tops out at 53mph. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Jacob improve as a pitcher. Overall, Jacob is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
