Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

08/04/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Jacob showed quick footwork and athletic overall actions during Pirate City. On the hill, he increased his velocity to 81 MPH, his arm action is solid, and he separates on time. Jacob works quickly, he pounds the zone, and holds runners close when on base. He varies his looks well and keeps runners off balance. In the OF, Jacob has a good approach, he hustles well to the ball, and he makes plays with a good arm to his target. He has fluid actions and works through the ball toward his target. At the plate, Jacob made hard contact in live at bats, he keeps a still head, and he flashes raw pop in his stick. He can drive the ball on a line and uses the whole field.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Eccher showed well as a two way player in his latest Factory outing. Offensively, he showed good balance and an ability to track. When Jacob lands softly on his front foot, he shows barrel accuracy and makes contact. In the OF, he made good adjustments to his game and communicated at a high level. On the mound, he hit 78 MPH with his fastball and changed speeds with a CH and CB. The best aspects to his pitching are his deception and control. Further development of his CB will make him very dangerous and effective - with an already solid CH. In all - Eccher continues to show ability and progress from event to event.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Eccher showed improvements to his foot speed (7.85 seconds) and arm strength (75 MPH) in his latest Factory outing. On the mound, he threw two pitches with level shoulders, some rhythm and head control. His curve-ball was his best pitch having 10/4 shape and decent break. In the OF, he has active feet, gets behind balls, and is coachable. Working on getting reads, and catching balls above his eyes, will continue to improve his game. Offensively, he showed he was aggressive - swinging at strikes, and stayed inside well at contact. Currently, Jacob projects on the bump, and with a throwing program, could become more effective with increased velocity.

07/07/2013 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Jacob is a RHP/OF that currently projects best in the OF. The 6'1"/155 lbs player has a projectable build and shows consistency in his game. In the outfield, he makes plays and has a quick exchange. He has active feet and is sure handed. Offensively, he has good use of his lower half with balance and a clean swing path. Becoming more consistent with his timing and staying short to the ball will allow for offensive prowess in his remaining high school years. As a pitcher, he throws 4 pitches, topping out at 73 MPH. His best pitches are his CB and change-up that are thrown with 11/4 shape and with arm side run, respectively. In all, Jacob is a 2015 that has a couple more years to develop as a player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
