07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) Jacob is a 2023 C/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. Behind the plate, he has a great attitude and desire to get better. Works with good direction towards second base as he replaces his feet and throws from a low 3/4 arm slot. Natural arm strength is present as he recorded an arm velocity up to 87mph and a best pop time of 2.26 seconds. Jacob will need to add strength to his frame and raise his arm slot in order to C at the next level. At the plate, he hits from an even and athletic stance. A small/simple hand load, with a small/square stride, and a flat barrel path. Good awareness of strike zone and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. During his round of BP, he sprayed line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 81mph. In live game action, he was 2 for 6 with 2 singles and drew 3 base on balls. On the mound, he works exclusively from the stretch and has a deceptive arm angle. He induces soft contact and he fields his position well. He throws a FB that sat 70-72 with good sink and a breaking ball with 10/4 shape that backs up. At the event, he struck out 5 batters in 4 innings of work and threw 64% of his pitches for strikes. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Jacob having a bright future on the baseball field.
