01/30/2021 - Winter Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS - Jan)
Jacob is an outstanding (2021) catching prospect who plays the game at a very high level. Offensively, this righty stands in with an open setup and active hands to load. Barrel delivery is explosive as he jumps on pitches he likes, squares the ball up with power and drives it to the deep parts of the part (exit velocity at an impressive 90 mph). In game AB's he went a remarkable 8 for 10 with 3 2B and 1 3B! Defensively, he sits in well with flexion and sway tracking pitches into a soft mitt. Lateral actions are quick/athletic as he is around pitches in the dirt centering them off of his chest. Transfer to throw is quick/smooth as throws are right on the bag with zip - pop times at 1.88 (arm velo = 84 mph). Jacob has the tools that will immediately make an impact at the next level.

Jacob is a pure catch and throw backstop who also will make an impact with the bat. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm (82 mph) with impressive pop times of 1.88. Offensively, he continues to shine with outstanding power potential. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (89 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. Jacob has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.
09/01/2019 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA
Jacob is an athletic and talented 2021 Catching prospect. Behind the dish, Jacob starts in a quiet primary stance, he presents a low target, and works behind the ball well. When blocking, Jacob leads with his glove, he has a soft chest to control the ball, and has good lateral movement. When throwing, Jacob gains ground, he has a clean exchange, and has a quick release. He has a strong arm and threw a 2.07 time to second base which is .07 seconds above the MLB average. At the plate, Jacob starts in a squared stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets to balance at contact. He creates good hip rotation into the ball and gets extension through contact. He shows gap to gap power with a middle approach. Jacob will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
