Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jacob is a talented RHP/3B prospect who has a versatile skill set. In the field, Jacob shows an athletic, relaxed ready position. He takes effective angles and moves with smooth footwork. He has a quick first step and cover good ground in each direction laterally. Jacob presents his glove and fields the ball in an athletic, square position. He has a quick, clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Jacob plays with momentum through the baseball showing strong, accurate throws. Offensively, Jacob has an open setup with loose hands. He has controlled, fluid rhythm with a simple load and open stride. Jacob shows fast bat speed and he gets good extension at contact. He consistently lands the barrel to the baseball producing hard contact. Jacob has above average power and can drive the ball to the pull side. Overall, Jacob is a polished prospect who has a high upside on the diamond.

10/28/2018 - College PREP - Corpus Christi , TX Jacob is a strong and athletic 2019 RHP prospect. At the plate, Jacob starts in a tall stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and creates backside rotation with his lower half. He stays direct to the ball and shows pull side pop. On the bump, Jacob gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and rotates toward his target. He has late sink on his fastball and a late break on his curveball. Jacob will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
