07/26/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Jacob continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth/athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes/angles. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground and shows big play potential in the OF. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target and gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows an open setup and good plate discipline. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
