01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament
Jacob showed consistency in his ability on both sides of the ball at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Pre-Season All America Tournament. At 2B, he was on-time to field and made plays with a sure glove. He had good feel for the glove and was accurate with his throws. Offensively, he used the middle of the field with his approach and flashed excellent bat speed. His head was controlled throughout the swing, allowing for strong barrel accuracy. In all - Jacob is in good shape leading up to his senior spring season.
06/21/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2
Jacob is an athletic 2nd baseman who will graduate in 2015. In the INF, Jacob has sure hands, quick feet, and he fields smoothly, out front of his body. He has proper footwork, moves around the bag well, and he throws with carry and accuracy to his target. Continuing to add arm strength will only improve defensive skills. Jacob threw off the mound in Omaha and had a loose arm action, smooth separation, and simple overall mechanics. More glove side lead, lower 1/2, and arm extension will improve mound effectiveness. Offensively, Jacob has good balance, an open stance, and good bat speed. He squares the ball up well on the barrel and shows good strike zone awareness. Solid hitting can get better with more load, separation, and not allowing the front side to fly open.
