Official Scouting Report

  • 4Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/01/2023 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Jacob is a 2024 1B/RHP prospect with a big, athletic frame at 6'3" 215 pounds. He does a good job of getting in a ready position and working from the balls of his feet at first. He moves well and shows good range to all angles. He makes on-time plays and fields the ball out in front. He does well to make accurate throws from the position and has a clean arm action. At the plate he is projectable and shows off a ton of strength. He gets an activated load and has fluid movements in the box. He does a good job of getting his lower half involved and really pounds the baseball. He greatly improved on his max exit velo with a mark of 91 MPH. He barrels the ball up consistently and has impressive coordination with his hips and hands. He reached base in 4 of 7 plate appearances and recorded a double and 2 singles. On the mound, he has a confident setup and does a nice job of gathering his balance. He gets on-time separation with a nice frontside and gets solid extension while staying in-line to his target. He does a great job of working downhill with his delivery. His FB is straight and he ran it up to 79 MPH while showing off good tilt with his breaking ball. He punched out 2 in 2 innings of game action. Jacob is an exciting prospect that looks to have the opportunity to play at the next level!

07/21/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - Session 2 (HS) Jacob is a tall and strong 3B/RHP in the 2024 class. In the field, he has relaxed feet and gains ground to the baseball. Has strong glove presentation and his exchanges are clean. Uses a high ¾ release and his arms plays (82 velo). On the mound, he maintains his eyes to the target and gets down the hill. His FB topped at 77 and his CB sat 62-66 with tight spin. Working to stay behind his rear hip will engage his lower half and increase his drive. At the plate, he is tall in his set-up and his hands are comfortable. Has a simple load and gains extension through the ball with strong hands. Has juice (83 exit velo) to the pull side (HR/2B in game action). Scouts feel if he plays with high energy to compliment his skill set, he can become a sought-after player in the 2024 class.

02/20/2022 - All-In Membership - Atlanta, GA Jacob is a 1B who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame athletic build with strength present and room to fill throughout. At 1B, he plays with good effort and works to center the baseball. Tries to create good fielding angles and has good glove actions. Made on-line throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with a long arm stroke, and an arm velocity up to 82mph. At the plate, he hits from a tall and square stance. He gets his lower half engaged in swing and has a level bat through the hitting zone. Showed ability to hit balls where pitched with good extension through the baseball. Hit balls into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 77mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Jacob making huge strides on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
