12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 Jacob is a coachable player who plays the game hard. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and works in-line toward the dish. FB shows slight downward movement as he fills up the zone and throws it for strikes. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape which he can increase consistency on by developing a more consistent release point. Arm action tends to be a little stiff; if he can loosen up and reach back, it was help improve effectiveness on all pitches. At SS, Jacob shows active footwork as he hustles into position behind the ground ball. He makes the plays, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Playing low through the ball toward his target will help to improve defensive skills. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced approach with a solid base. He barrels the ball up and engages his lower 1/2. More extension through contact will increase pop off of his barrel. Only a 2020 grad - Jacob still has a ton of time to work on and develop his skills on the diamond.
