08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jacob is a well-rounded 2B/SS prospect who has a versatile skill set and graduates in 2018. As a right-handed hitter, Jacob has an open stance with a centered balance. He has a good load with a square, on-time stride. Jacob shows fast bat speed with a direct swing path maintaining a strong backside. He is a line drive type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. In the field, Jacob plays with quick, fluid footwork actively moving and taking effective angles to cover good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square, athletic position. Jacob has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action as he throws from an over the top arm slot. He has a quick release producing accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Jacob has skill on both sides of the ball with upside to take his game to the next level.

12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Jacob is a hardworking SS/2B prospect who has a solid approach to the game and the ability to be a spark plug type player. In the field, Jacob plays with active footwork and moves well laterally. He has an aggressive approach as he presents his glove and fields it in a low position. Jacob has a long arm action throwing from an over the top arm slot. He plays with good energy and is not afraid to dive. Offensively, Jacob has a square stance and maintains direction with his stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. His swing path is short and flat producing consistent contact. He has a line drive approach and effectively uses the whole field. Overall, Jacob has a solid set of skills and potential to get even better.

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Jacob is an athletic MIF who worked very hard on his skills during his time at the Omaha National World Series. He is coachable and makes adjustments quickly. Defensively, he has active footwork and works to field the GB out in front. Backhand play is smooth with a clean transfer to throw.. At the plate, this righty battles and doesn't go down easily. He takes an aggressive hack and works to extend through contact, driving the ball on a line. Working on his rhythm to load will help to improve timing and hard contact consistency. Kalt (2018 grad) has skills with upside on the diamond as he has time to progress and build strength.

03/13/2016 - College PREP - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Jacob continues to show solid play in his baseball abilities. In the MIF, he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. Feet are active and aggressive as he shows off his athletic abilities on the slow roller play. Presenting his glove more out in front will help to avoid getting the ‘in between' hop. Continuing to increase foot quickness will aid in improving range. At the plate, hands are loose and work inside the ball, utilizing fields. Swing path is short / direct, displaying a solid line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Jacob is a lean SS that will graduate in 2018. At SS, actions are smooth / clean as he plays under control. Feet are active as he works to square balls up, displays clean hands as he makes the routine plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Defensive grade will continue to improve as increases foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are loose and works through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and is a good situational hitter. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly through his lower half. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude, is a hard worker, and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Jacob has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
