07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (MS) Jacob is a 2029 2B/SS prospect out of Lexington, SC that recently showcased his skills at the National World Series at the JRTC. In the field, he gets in a relaxed ready position and shows range to all sides, taking plus angles to the baseball. He does well to get in a low, squared fielding position and presents his hands out in front when fielding. He reads hops well. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws to his target with a short, quick arm action. He recorded a raw velo of 62 MPH, improving on his previous mark. At the plate, he starts in a tall, open stance with high hands and gets a squared stride to the baseball. He has a controlled rhythm in the box and a smooth, on-plane swing to the baseball. He shows off plus barrel control and makes consistent contact while doing a nice job of rotating his core. He has an impressive inside-out swing. He reached base in 4 of 7 plate appearances with a single and three walks. Jacob is a prospect that will be exciting to monitor as he continues to develop and get stronger!

06/09/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (MS) Jacob is a 2029 2B/OF/RHP prospect that recently showed his skills at the All-State Tournament in Florida. In the field, he does a great job with his pre-pitch movements. His feet are efficient and he shows range to the glove side. His exchange is clean and he has a short arm action from a high 3/4 slot. He did well on double play feeds. He recorded a raw velo of 61 MPH. At the plate, he starts in an open stance and has comfortable hands. He has good rhythm and keeps his balance centered with his lower half. He does well to find the barrel, recording a max exit velo of 60 MPH. He reached base in 3 of his 7 game plate appearances, with a single and two walks. On the mound, he throws from a high 3/4 slot and features a 4-pitch mix. His delivery is simple and easily repeatable, and he does well to keep his eyes on his target. He gathers his balance over the rubber and gets on-time separation. His arm action is clean and his FB reached a max velo of 55 MPH. He gets good extension with his frontside and has a controlled landing. Overall, Jacob is a prospect we are looking forward to seeing more of as he continues to develop!

02/26/2023 - National Showcase - Lexington, SC Jacob is an athletic 2B/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, he shows smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents well out front. Hands/feet work well through the fielding process. In the OF, he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 6 1/2 years to further develop, Jacob has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
