Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Jacob is a promising RHP/1B that competed very well at the Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City. Offensively, he had quick hands to hit and delivered the barrel on a level path. He was balanced throughout his swing and was coordinated with his hands/hips to get the barrel through the zone. At 1B, he made plays by getting to his fielding position on-time and was sure with the glove. He had loose/long arm action with flashes of carry on his throws. On the hill, he threw his FB from 74-78 with run, spun a 10/4 CB with some depth from 65-66, and showed a CH with tail from 64-65. He kept his eyes on the target, was deceptive with the movement in his body during his delivery, and had good presence with his 6'5/200 lbs frame. In all - Jacob is a big/athletic player that asks a lot of questions and works hard to improve his game.

05/03/2015 - College PREP - Adrian (Detroit), MI Jacob is a well built left handed hitting RHP that will graduate in 2016. Offensively, he had a strong approach with a direct barrel to contact. He was aggressive and strong to and through the baseball and had natural rhythm to hit. He generated bat whip with hand and hip coordination and was consistent with line-drive contact. On the mound, he threw a tailing FB from 74-78, spun a 10/4 CB from 63-64, and showed a CH with tail from 67-68. He had good arm speed and was long and loose to deliver. The ball jumped in on hitters and with more front side direction and arm strength will be a force. In all - at 6'5/200 lbs, Jacob is very projectable for next level play.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
