ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

11/02/2014 - National Tryout - Shreveport, LA Jacob has developed his game well since we last saw him in 2013. With the bat, this RHH shows a closed stance with good balance. Swing path is level as he consistently squares the ball up. He extends through contact and uses the entire field. In the OF, he tracks down balls in the gaps with speed (7.01) and can cover some ground. He works behind the through the fly-ball. He gathers well, has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws into his target. Only a 2017 grad - Jacob has skills that will provide success on the diamond.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Jacob is a lean, young OF/RHP that will graduate in 2017. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and displays smooth / clean actions. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to get behind balls more and play through with momentum to his target and increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate, but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Leslie shows a squared, athletic stance with balance. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a solid line drive approach. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he develops more rhythm and loads to load and get into a launch position. Power grades will improve as he learns to use his lower half more and develop more overall body strength. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 60-61 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches and challenges hitters. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and develop more off speed pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Jacob has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
