  • OF/CPosition Projection

08/18/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Providence, RI Jacob raised arm velocity to 68 MPH and lowered 60 time to 7.64 seconds during his workout in Providence. In the OF, Jacob shows an aggressive approach to the ball through efficient footwork. He makes plays, shows a clean exchange, and throws with direction to his cut off man. Behind the plate, Jacob has a presentable glove, he gains ground, and throws with some accuracy to 2nd base. Offensively, Jacob has a tall/open stance, a good barrel angle, and he hits line drives. He works the ball gap to gap, and shows some bat speed.

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Jacob is a coachable C/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Select Training & Competition at Pirate City. Behind the plate, Jacob sits in a square stance and receives with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws to 2B, keeping them accurate and on-line to the bag. Jacob can improve defensively by increasing his range to block. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and works to barrel up the baseball, driving to all fields. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Jacob improve as a hitter. With three more years to develop, Jacob has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
