02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Limas is a talented/projectable 2-way athlete (RHP/1B) who just continues to progress and showed well at the Opening Day Classic. On the mound, this tall (6'3"/185) RHP steps onto the rubber with a purpose and is looking to attack hitters. Arm works freely as his FB jumps out of his hand and onto hitters - cracking the mitt at 86 mph. He works it in and out and can hit his spots well. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with sharp/late action, proving to be a solid 'K' pitch. He maintains good composure no matter the situation. At 1B, he comes to get the GB and tracks it into his mitt. He makes the plays with soft hands and has the ability to pick it well. As a hitter, Jacob remains patient waiting for a pitch he likes. He connects and drives the ball on a line. He hits the ball where it's pitched with the ability to go the other way. Jacob has a ton of upside with the tools that will translate well into the next level.

09/16/2020 - Pathway AZ Upperclass - 18U Jacob continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the mound. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. Arm strength on the mound has improved as threw his top velocity to date at 84 mph. FB ranges from 83-84 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Slider is harder (78 mph) with tight spin and short break. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. He shows a good mound presence with confidence. Jacob has a bright future ahead of himself and we look forward to seeing what it holds.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jacob is a RHP prospect who showcased his skills at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. This righty has a 2 pitch arsenal in which he keep hitters guessing. FB showed a range of 81-82 with good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late bite. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/10/2019 - College PREP - Midland, TX Jacob improved radar velocity to 88 MPH and showed a spike in hitting grades during his last workout in Midland, TX. On the mound, Jacob has good balance over the rubber and a loose/free arm circle. He works well to his balance point, separates his hands on time, and lands with a proper length stride toward home; competing in the zone. More lower body and continuing to add arm strength will help mound effectiveness rise. Offensively, Jacob improved hitting and power grades to 42 and 48 respectively. He has a tall/square stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has pop in his bat, centers it well, and can spray to all fields. More lower body will help hitting numbers continue to improve. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Jacob in the years to come.

06/22/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jacob is a coachable RHP/1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Omaha National World Series. On the mound, Jacob gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. His fastball tops out at 81mph. Developing off speed pitches can help Jacob improve as a pitcher. In the field, Jacob shows active footwork and flashes good lateral range. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a two-handed exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with life through his target. Jacob can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting into a small load and drives the ball to all fields. Driving his lower half more can help Jacob improve as a hitter. Overall, Jacob is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

12/16/2018 - College PREP - El Paso, TX Jacob is a tall, athletic RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Delivery is sound/repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and works in line to his target. Fastball showed a range of 77-80 mph on a downhill plane with late life. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for the pitch with arm side run and displays as a quality pitch that will get outs. Control is solid as throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 2 years to further develop, Jacob has upside on the bump with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
