11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Jacob continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to attack, playing through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

02/10/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14) Jacob is a respectful and athletic prospect that made several adjustments during the hitting accelerated training weekend. At the plate, Jacob has fluid pre pitch rhythm and gets his front foot down on time. He attacks the ball with his lower half and stays balanced through contact. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and getting the top hand behind the ball will allow him to get through the ball more consistently. He also needs to continue to load his hands into the launch position and keep his head down at contact. Jacob will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Jacob is a young 2nd baseman with a thin frame. In the INF, Jacob has active feet, he moves with agility to the ball, and he fields in a low position. He makes the routine plays and has some feel for the backhand, and throws with accuracy from a quick arm action to his target. At the plate, Jacob has a square set-up, a level swing, and he works the middle of the field. He swings in good rhythm, uses his lower body, and can spray to all fields. Jacob can improve skills with work on the following.

Defense
1. Pre-pitch actions
2. Fielding position
3. Double play feeds
Offense
1. Lower body
2. Bat speed
3. Load/stride

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
