05/19/2019 - College PREP - Sumrall (Hattiesburg), MS Jacob is a lean SS who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.21. In the MIF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls and play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line zip (82 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach, flashing gap-to-gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Jacob has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
