07/26/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One North Morgan continues to show solid play in his abilities behind the play. Pop times were in the 2.10 range as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a solid setup with balance. Hands are quick and work to and through the ball, creating extension. He has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he learns to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields.

02/24/2013 - National Tryout - Dayton, OH Morgan continues to show a ton of improvements in his baseball abilities with the makings of a special type player at the next level. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.46 runner. Feet are quick / aggressive as he works in line and gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved, showing a range of 2.oo-2.14 with an average of 2.06. He will control the running game at the next level with his feet / arm. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting abilities with superior power. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a short / level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball exploding off his bat to all fields. He uses his lower half well and has strength in his swing as he delivers the barrel to the ball.

12/27/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament Jacob fits the profile of what you look for in a catcher. He is a natural leader who is vocal and aggressive, and he sets the tone for the team by working hard. In addition to his intangibles he can really swing the bat as evidenced by his 6 hits in 9 at bats at the Pirate City Christmas Tournament. His swing is simple and compact and his combination of present strength and good eye/hand coordination leads to lots of balls being centered. Behind the plate, he works well with his pitching staff and is a solid receiver who sticks his nose in on balls in the dirt. Some refinements to his exchange and release will improve his times to 2B. Overall, Jacob is an attractive package for the next level as a natural leader who can hit in the middle of a lineup.

06/25/2012 - College PREP - Amelia (Cincinnati), OH Jacob is a solid catcher that will graduate in 2014. Feet are active, working in line to his target, and show a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.18-2.37 with an average of 2.25 with accuracy and carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools at the next level as he continues to improve. At the plate, Morgan shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently through his swing. With 2 years to further develop, Jacob has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
