07/29/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Jacob continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. At 2B, he works to square balls up and displays active feet. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he shows a soft / squared setup with balance. Hands are loose and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Lower half works well through the swing and he shows good barrel accuracy. At the event, he was 3 for 7 with 3 BB as he displays a solid eye and patient approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he works hard and is very coachable.

02/15/2015 - College PREP - Sanford (Orlando), FL Jacob is a R/R 2B who has made great strides in his game. Defensively, he sows active footwork moving well on the ball of his feet. He presents and fields the ball out in front. He has plus lateral range and funnels to a quick/clean exchange. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced approach with a solid base. Swing path is level to and through the zone as he engages his lower 1/2 and hits line-drives. This 2017 grad has skills that will provide success on the diamond.

12/27/2011 - Vero Beach Christmas Camp and Tournament Jacob is a 2017 graduate who plays second base and outfield. In the infield Jacob throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and makes accurate throws. He uses 2 hands when fielding and has active footwork. He stays athletic with his fielding position and fields out in front of his body. He has good range and even better awareness around the bag. In the outfield Jacob again uses 2 hands and has active footwork. He follows his throws well and was able to get behind the baseball on pop ups. Wherever he is in the field, Jacob hustles and leads on the field by the way he plays. At the plate he has an athletic set up and stays balanced. He has a smooth load and a centered stride. He uses his lower half well and made consistent contact during batting practice and games. Jacob was the youngest player at camp and you would have never known. He shows a good baseball mind with good instincts. Hustles everywhere he goes and would like to see him down the road as he matures and grows.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
